Renowned Post Pop Artist Bret Rowe Presents 'GAMEBOARDOM'

Renowned Santa Monica-based artist Bret Rowe will unveil new work for his much-anticipated show ‘Gameboardom’ at an April 10, 2010 opening at the Tracy Park Gallery in Malibu. Rowe has been showing his work, a blend of silkscreen, text, oil enamel, acrylic and watercolor, at public and private showings since 1996. Collectors include Actor Jack Nicholson, Kid Rock, ‘Terminator 3’ Producer Nigel Sinclair, Guess? Jeans founder Georges Marciano. Rowe's art can be found in numerous private collections around the world.

Rowe’s work blends text with historical, cultural and political subjects, to yield thought-provoking, colorful narratives and compositions that speak the language of our times. Rowe has chosen self-created gameboards on religion, Hollywood, Hip-Hop, the economy and other subjects, as the delivery platform of choice for his new ‘Gameboardom’ series.

According to Collector Jake Kloberdanz, CEO ONEHOPE Foundation, " Bret speaks to society through his art. He manages to encompass the political climate of today's society and gently intertwine his talent as an artist to provide the art world with a consciousness. Bret shares his views and passion and strives to make a difference."

Rowe states, "The process for my new Gameboardom series was inspired by my love for the distressed look of vintage carnival posters -- alluring images in once saturated, brilliant colors that have been worn by the hands of time.” A sampling of Rowe’s 'Gameboardom' titles such as ‘HipHopera’, ‘Consumedussa’, ‘Staristocracy’ and ‘MasterPeace’ reflect narratives on hip-hop impresarios, the credit crunch, the Hollywood fame game and our need for world peace, respectively.

The 'Gameboardom’ show includes new originals from Rowe and framed cells from the series. Originals from Rowe’s past series will also be on display and available for sale. The public is invited to the opening from 7PM to 10PM. and the exhibit will run through May 10, 2010.

Tracy Park Gallery is located next to Robert De Niro's famed Nobu restaurant at The Malibu Country Mart, 3835 Cross Creek Road Malibu, 90265. The gallery will be open Sunday and Monday: Noon until 5:00 p.m and Tuesday - Saturday: 11:00-6:00 p.m. Tracy Park Gallery can be reached at 310.456.7505.

Going Green For Spring and Summer

In 2010, going green means more than responsibly reducing your carbon footprint. There's a green color revolution in fashion and accessories - and, of course, that means jewelry, too. For spring and summer, green sundresses, tees, and sandals are must-haves for every stylish wardrobe and, at the same time, some treat-yourself green gemstone jewelry to complement.

Speaking of gold…since early last year, international trend forecasting expert Ellen Sideri has been anticipating the exciting renaissance of gold jewelry set with green gemstones. "Everything from light to dark greens," said the founder and president of ESP Trendlab in New York City. In early '09, Sideri noted, "They're starting to punctuate the market and, in 2010, they'll be very strong." Well, Sideri was spot-on, emphasizing that wearing green gemstone jewelry this year "is a way to wear luxury and not deprive yourself." Because, she said "even though some great greens can, admittedly, be rather pricey, other fabulous ones are really affordable. And, today, personal style is all about mixing quality product at the high, low, and middle. Look at Michelle Obama. The First Lady is a perfect example of how best to mix luxury and mass together and make it work beautifully. I especially like layering and stacking jewelry pieces," So, in 2010, she recommends, "Mix various shades of green gems together."
